The Marque Club London 1967
by Jan Olson
In the
swinging sixties the “hottest” night
spot in London was undoubtedly the
“Marque Club”. It was an unbelievably
small dark and simple place, but go any
night of the week and for a few
shillings you could see young up-and-coming groups like: The
Rolling Stones, The Yard Birds, The
Spencer Davis Group, the list was
endless. This
photograph captures its essence
beautifully, with the group’s dancer
wearing a crochet mini dress, a
“must-have” for any young lady of
the period, being filmed for the BBC
TV show
“The Beat Club”.
A
brilliant photograph and a brilliant
time capsule.
Size approx. 20 x
16inch, numbered and signed and
dated by the photographer in the margin.
