“Apollyon” by late Bob Carlos Clarke’s “Apollyon” sheaves with undertones of the occult, yet without a sense of negativity. Instead it has a powerful positive feel as the subject stands “as if she were a witness looking into our world through a window from an ever present timeless and more ancient world”. To my mind it is one of Clarke’s truly personal images, one that shows us his inner most thoughts. Bob here makes a mistake, which he crosse out. This means he stopped, looked and thought about this particular print far more than any of the others, probably having a little chuckle. It is totally unique.
