Pharaoh Ramsis II by A.A.Gaddis

Being based in Luxor at the turn of the century, A.A.Gaddis was in a unique position to photograph the wonders of Luxor & Karnak temples before the likes of Howard Carter and other archaeo-logists started their excavations. Gaddis’s photograph here shows “Ramsis II” (1279-1213 BC).
Gaddis’s Lens were old, some with distortions, notice how the area around the Pharaoh’s head seems to shimmer. Many of the hieroglyphs in the back ground have long since been destroyed, Gaddis’s photographs being their only record.

inscribed in pencil "Karnak temple, Ramisis II by AA Gaddis 1910".
